May Long Weekend Brought All The Seals To The Party!
This May long weekend provided for excellent diving, snorkelling, and kayaking in Howe Sound with some very curious marine life encounters!
Here’s what Captain Kevin had to say:
“Saturday am we dove the Annapolis followed by a vibrant wall dive. That afternoon we had a snorkel and kayak excursion with an excited group of snorkelling guests from both England and India. Their seal encounters were spectacular! About 50 seals hung around the group. The guests stayed in the water with the seals for 1.5 hours, not wanting to leave! We finally had to pull the guests out so we could take them to a new location for kayaking. While kayaking the group experienced dozens of very young pups playing around them as they paddled along the shoreline. The Snorkel and Kayak Adventure is normally 4 hours, however it was extended to 5 hours as so much marine life was present – frankly no one was interested in being anywhere else but Howe Sound!
Sunday saw an advanced training group on the Annapolis. The group had initially booked for wreck and wall but the group decided to stay for a second dive on the Annapolis. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday provided us with calm sea conditions and water temperatures ranging from 50-60F depending on depth. Quite lovely if you ask us! Divers reported 20-40′ at depth with conditions improving over the weekend as particle matter settled. One diver celebrated his #52 dive with us on the Annapolis this weekend! Congratulations!
The weekend rounded out on Monday with the Topline busy picking up 120 kids from island campouts. Talk about spring has sprung – summer is just around the corner!
The 1st water-filled long weekend is over. Lots of new friends and life long memories for all.
Hope to see you soon! Cheers!” – Captain Kevin
